The reason behind an MOT test is to determine whether your vehicle is roadworthy and safe to drive or not. All vehicles which have completed three years from their date of registration must undergo this test on a yearly basis.

Car body

Checks on car structure and general components are to rule out whether there are damages or corrosion on the same.

Tyres

Tyres are inspected on various factors, for instance, the primary one being tread depth. If it is below 1.6mm, it will surely fail the MOT test. Besides, bruises or cracks on the tyre body are also a reason for MOT failure.

Exhaust system

The exhaust components will undergo inspection to figure out whether there are any leaks, excessive noise heard or any fault in the catalytic converter.

Windscreen

Checking of the vehicle's windscreen and wipers are done to ensure that the driver gets a clear view of the road in any weather condition. For instance, if there is any scratch on the front screen, it must be less than 40mm to pass the MOT test.

Brake system

Full inspection of the brake components, their working and replacements along with the ABS and ESC will be done.
